To locate the offline folder file, you should click to
select Offline Folders item in Select File to Scan.
You can find the Inbox Repair Tool on Microsoft Windows,
Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office installation CD.
It is installed automatically during setup. You can find
these programs in the following storade folder:
<Drive letter>:\tools\oldwin95\message\us\wms.exe
In Windows 2000, you can locate these tools in the
following folder:
<Drive letter>:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT\Scanpst.exe
How to find and run the Microsoft Inbox Repair Tool.
Close the Outlook if it is opened.
1. Click Start and select the Find, or Search item,
depending upon installed operating system.
2. In the Search for files or folders named box, type
scanpst.exe.
3. Type in the path and the pst file name, or click
Browse to locate the file using the file system.
4. Click Start to run it.
What the Repiar Utility does.
When you run the Inbox Repair Tool on a Personal Folders
(.pst) file, it analyses the PST file structure
and item headers to recover all folders Calendar,
Contacts, Deleted Items, Inbox, Journal, Notes, Outbox,
Sent Items and Tasks items. If the Microsoft Inbox
Repair Tool recovers the Personal Folders file, it means
that the tool found problems, and repaired what it
could.
It tries to turn any file into a Personal Folders (.pst)
file, so you can convert the .ost file into .pst. you
should rename it to *.pst and perform the recovery.
During the recovery process it creates the folder called
"Lost And Found". This folder contains folders and items
structure that the Inbox Repair Tool recovered. The
missing items are beyond repair.
